Walkman
Hi, again nonexistent readers <3 Today I Will talk about an object very interesting: The Walkman.
I will tell you about its history and sociocultural importance.
The original Walkman, released in 1979, was the first object that changed listening habits, by allowing people to listen to music on the move. Before they could only listen to music in the house o in a car.
Consisted of a portable cassette with rechargeable batteries, physical buttons from changed the song and volume control.
The special thing about this object was it had 2 headphone jacks that allowed to listen to music with a friend or your boyfriend or girlfriend, Also it had a button called “hot line” and a microphone to be able to converse without stop the music.
Finally, Sony withdrew the classic line Walkman in 2010.
I like to much this object because it is emblematic of the '80s and '90s. Also, is the best example of minimal design, characteristic of japan culture.
I decided to talk about this object because I saw it in a movie of marvel, "Guardians of the galaxy" (2014), and I really liked his emotional-metaphorical role within the plot of the movie. (It is the object that makes the protagonist remember his childhood and his family)
After appearing in this film, the Walkman became a very valuable object for collectors, costing at least US $ 435.0
